Acoustic four-piece band Salt House, is a Scottish Folk Super Group consisting of four members who are all outstanding individual performers in their own right.
The band membership boasts previous winners of the BBC Young Folk Awards, a Scottish Jazz Award and many prizes at the Scottish Trad Music Awards. As described by the Guardian they now form a "seamless team".
The members of the band are Siobhan Miller, on vocals and harmonium, Ewan MacPherson on guitar, banjo, mandolin and vocals, Lauren MacColl on viola and fiddle and Ewan Burton on double bass.
The sound of Salt House is earthy, deep-rooted, yet progressive, built from grassroots Folk Music with contemporary influences. 2014 saw the release of the debut CD by Salt House entitled "Lay Your Dark Low", described by the Herald as "a multifaceted work of a significant new collective".
The re-working by the band of old ballads sits alongside their own writing and the instrumental section wraps the striking distinctive Scottish voice of Siobhan Miller in a myriad of musical colour and textures.
