THE RETURN OF THE KING (of the story song)
On Friday 14 November Montrose Folk Club welcomes back James Keelaghan.
James Keeleghan has been described as Canada's finest Singer/Songwriter by American Music Journalist, Dave Marsh, Author of classic books on Dylan and The Band.
The masterful storytelling of James Keeleghan has, over the course of eleven CDs, been part of the bedrock of his success, earning Keeleghan nominations and awards, including a Juno, the Canadian equivalent of the Grammy, and acclaim from Australia to Scandinavia.
Possessed of an insatiable appetite for finding the next unique storyline, Keeleghan forges his songs with brilliant craftsmanship and artistic vision, making him one of the most distinctive and readily identifiable voices on both the Canadian and International Singer/Songwriter scenes.
Not only does Keeleghan lay claim to a deep catalogue of timeless originals, such as Fires of Calais, Cold Missouri Waters, Jenny Bryce and Hillcrest Mine, he is also a persuasive interpreter of outside material. A fine example of his brilliance as a interpreter is his gripping take on the Gordon Lightfoot Epic, Canadian Railroad Trilogy. He also released a 2006 CD entitled "A Few Verses", a homage to his roots in traditional music.
James Keeleghan will be appearing at Montrose Folk Club in a duo with his long time accompanist, Hugh MacMillan on bass.
