Melbourne Cup Calcutta Tickets are now available. This is your chance to own a horse in the Cup and turn your $1 investment into thousands. For those of you who do not know how the Calcutta works – Tickets are on sale for $1 each. On Monday 6th November at 6.30pm, all sold Calcutta tickets go into a barrel. The names of the horses running in the Melbourne Cup go into a second barrel.
The draw commences at 6.30pm and a name is drawn from the Calcutta tickets and matched with a horse in the Melbourne Cup. This is done for all the horses running in the Cup. Once all horses have been allocated the Auction begins where each horse is then auctioned off for cash.
You do not need to have ‘won’ a horse in the draw to bid at the Auction – anyone is eligible to participate. If however, you have ‘won’ a horse at the draw, you can elect to either
1. buy the horse back at the auction for half its going price
2. take half the money the horse is sold for.
The proceeds from the auction then go into the prize pool. This prize pool is then divided among the 3 place getters.
1st place = 70% of prize pool
2nd Place = 20% of prize pool
3rd place = 10% of prize pool
