FOOTWORK #016 w/ DJ SPYRO & D DOUBLE E w/ support from Filthy Vicars, Suck Fake & Keff, & more!
D DOUBLE E:
‘The Greatest Grime MC of All Time’, ‘the most legendary Grime MC’ and ‘the MC’s MC.’ These are titles that could only have been bestowed upon one person; an MC of such high calibre that he was voted top 10 in MTV UK’s ‘Hottest MC’s of 2010’ poll and is acclaimed as being one of the most innovative and influential figures on the UK Underground for over a decade.
That MC is of course, the one and only D Double E.
D Double E was born Darren Dixon in Forest Gate. Living in East London which has a plethora of grime activity and MC talent, he was exposed to the scene at a young age. Having been in various crews over the years including N.A.S.T.Y crew, he has gained a surplus of experience of the scene. He thus directed this into his latest project the Newham Generals, who are signed to Dizzee Rascals label ‘Dirtee Stank’. D double E and Footsie started by releasing ‘Generally Speaking’ which was the platform that launched the Newham Generals into orbit. The combination of genres and the fusion of sounds has lead the “Gens” to perform at many a festival across the globe. With a unique flow and comical lyrics, D double is without a doubt set for greatness.
DJ SPYRO:
As a grime DJ, selector and digger for new sounds, Spyro’s reputation is unrivaled. Mention his name to any grime head, and you’ll be met with a nod of respect. His shows and DJ sets are instrumental in bringing newer producers to wider attention, as well as showcasing new music from established names within the scene. Spyro is widely regarded as one of the best DJs to ever have been involved in grime.
Filthy Vicars:
A DJ/Producer from Coventry. They play mainly Bass, Grime, Garage, Bassline and anything in between. Known for fast mixing and lively sets, these boys have recently had DJ support from radio stations around the UK and DJs such as spooky (deja vu fm) & royal-t (rinse fm) and more! These lads know the home crowd inside out & are known to back a southern or two.
Suck Fake & Keff:
You know how these two boys get us warmed up for a night of pure vibes! When the two team up behind the decks some sort of mystical magic happens and we ride along the musical road with them. Providing house vibes with lashings of bass, these guys keep the dance floor moving. If you've been to a footwork before, theres no doubt you'll have heard these two behind the decks.
Dave Lings:
The newest member to the footwork team, and theres a clear reason why! This guy knows how to warm up the crowd for the night ahead. You may have caught him in the side room at previous footwork events, doing his thing. This time, come see what he can do when we put him behind some pioneers and our Funktion One sound system!
