Party: Mad Kittens Team Auditions - Winter 2018

Would you like to grow and challenge yourself as a dancer in a supportive team environment? Want to share your love for Lindy Hop through performance and presentation? How about learning advanced technique and routines, and geeking out over Lindy Hop and Solo Jazz? If you have have strong skills and a good attitude, Mad Kittens performance team could be for you!

AUDITIONS:
*Limited spots may be available*

Auditions will take place on Sunday, January 14th at 5:30pm.
Please let us know if you cannot make this date, and we can schedule an alternative date.

Pre-requisites:
*We look for good technique, strong rhythm, and quality body movement.
*You should be able to swing out comfortably.
*You should have some solo jazz experience
*You should have completed at least Lindy Hop 2 and are entering Lindy Hop 3 or higher

If there is someone that you think meets the pre-reqs, please extend them an invite.

What to expect at the audition:
-45-60min duration
- Social dancing with the coaches, auditionees, members of Mad Cat Swing and current Mad Kittens students.
- Solo Jazz choreo (learn and demonstrate)
-Partner dance choreo (learn and demonstrate)

TEAM DESCRIPTION:
As a member of Mad Kittens, you will learn what it takes to be part of performance team, within a class setting. You'll learn new material and technique, and receive personal feedback from our coaches. You will learn traditional choreographies such as the Big Apple Contest, Al & Leon's Shim Sham, Tranky Doo, and the California Routine, as well as Mad Cat Swing standards such as the Mad Cat Chorus and First Stops. You'll also get the opportunity to learn original choreographies created by your coaches, and perform at events such as Summer Solstice, Lindy Harvest, Lindy Bout in Vancouver, and at our New Year's Eve party.
Finally, you'll have the chance to become a member of our professional performance team, Mad Cat Swing.

Practice days are Sundays at 5:30pm to 7:30pm, with extra practices scheduled before a big performance.

Member Requirements:
*Monthly fee is $75
*You currently social dance, and will continue to do so
*You will show up to all practices if possible
*If you need to miss practice, give us lots of notice
*You have a good attitude and team spirit
*You have motivation to perform and improve


Member Benefits:
*Sugar Swing Saturday Dances: half price for all members.
*Sugar Swing Friday Dances: first 5 members through the door get in free.

Members of Mad Cat Swing and the weekly instructors of Sugar Swing may assist and instruct from time to time.

We audition every few months, so if spots fill up/you don't make it on the team, there is always opportunity to try again.
