Party: Signature Friday's Presents a Hip Hop Showcase Featuring Baby C Sarah K & Dj Samson

BABY C’s Bio
Stepping on stage at 5 feet 3 inches, female rapper Baby C is larger on the mic than she is in person. As an artist, writer, dancer and performer, Baby C is experiencing all angles of hip-hop. She can be compared to no other artist; her sexy style captures the attention of men and her lyrical content empowers women through an undeniably innovative flow. With an ability to make people dance to club tracks or vibe to slow jams, Baby C’s versatility has captured the attention of many fans. Her identifiable sound targets college students and thrives in the club scene.

Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Baby C was influenced by various musical icons and started writing her own lyrics at the age of twelve. Her lyrics became a reflection of her life as her emotions were scribbled in ink. In 2000, she recorded her debut album in an underground studio and began to promote her own music. Breaking free of the stereotypical rap industry image, she let her music speak for itself. She also incorporated her love for dance by joining a break dancing crew and performing alongside dancers. It was evident from her first performance at a high school talent show that Baby C belonged in the spotlight.

When she turned nineteen, Baby C completed her second album and her music emerged into the club scene, opening the doors for her to enhance her act as a live performer. Not only did she hit the stage at the hottest clubs in the Vancouver area such as Barcelona, The Caprice, Post Modern, Pop Opera and Red Room, but she also organized and promoted her own events at The Cellar, Century House, The Gallery, Industry Night Club, and Mahony & Sons. To further her fan base, Baby C traveled to Vancouver Island and performed in Victoria, Coombs, Duncan and Nanaimo. While on the microphone, Baby C’s stage presence shocks the audience: she has the ability to keep the crowd hype and all eyes on her.

In 2008, Baby C released her third album titled, Can’t Touch Me, which featured artists and producers from around the world. By 2010, she completed her Masters degree at the University of British Columbia having balanced her education, her role on the varsity ice hockey team and her emerging rap career. Baby C recently released her new album, All In, in October 2011 which includes the hot singles “Broken Promise” and “Back Up Plan.” It is only a matter of time before the world recognizes her talent as an upcoming hip-hop artist. http://www.reverbnation.com/rpk/babyc

Sarah K’s Bio
Sarah K is a 26 year old R&B-Soul-Pop singer from North Vancouver, Canada who first started singing writing songs at age 13. Her aspiration quickly grew from writing, to performing, to where she is and now as an acclaimed recording artist. Sarah K would say that her most influential singer has always been Mariah Carey. "Her vocal ability, inspirational lyrics and Cinderella story continue to give me the hope and confidence to achieve all my dreams."

Sarah appreciates many contemporary R&B artists such as Alicia Keys, Lauren Hill and Joss Stone, but also has her ear tuned to the greats like Aretha Franklin and Chaka Khan. All are important influences that help Sarah K shape her sound.

Most people who hear Sarah K for the first time have a hard time believing that that voice comes out of her body. If you were to close your eyes, you would imagine a large buxom black woman in the glory days of Motown.

Presently Sarah K is continuing to write and perform no stop. Her highly anticipated album is due to be released in early 2013. Her Deadmau5 inspired song "Hands Up!" has been getting radio play in the US, and in Europe on Top 40 stations, while her more flavourful R&B tracks hit there audiences from Louisiana to back here in Vancouver. So far in 2012 she has taken the stage with Juno Nominee, Tony Anthony, Tonye Aganaba and dancehall reggae star, Culture Brown. This year alone, Sarah K has released singles with MC Static, MC Quote, and Baby C. In the early Fall of 2012, Sarah K will be releasing her highly anticipated EP with songs that have been produced by some of the industries best producers here in Canada, the US and Germany. In July 2012, Sarah K opened the 25th annual Caribbean Days Festival in North Vancouver with an electrifying mix of Reggae, R&B/Soul and Top 40.

2012 has also seen Sarah K partner with Artist Manager Christopher Steffler from Mercury Management Canada. Her new management has been instrumental in moving Sarah K towards her goals.

2010 and 2011 were busy years; starting with two performances at The River Rock Show Theatre as a special guest of A-Star Productions. Sarah K performed her single “In Your Dreams” to a packed house. Soon after, Sarah K performed again with Devon a.k.a Mr. Metro and the “Metro Squad” at the Olympic Kick-off, “2010 Best of the Best Urban Showcase”. Later she performed again at The Fairview backing up the “Metro Squad”, as well as performing two of her own songs with the band. In May 2010 The Backstage Lounge, on historic Granville Island, saw the Debut of “Sarah K and The Promise”. It was Sarah’s true break-out performance where she commanded an amazing performance with the 7-Piece band. Shortly after that she performed at Shine Nightclub for a Caribbean Fashion Show which raised funds for Chilean earthquake relief. On July 2, 2010, Sarah participated in the 2010 Miss BC Pageant. As part of her participation, Sarah hosted and headlined a fundraising concert for “Cops for Cancer” charity at The Cellar Nightclub on Granville Street. Sarah saw this as an opportunity to make a difference for a good cause. The show opened with the “Paul Tavai-Latta Polynesian Dancers” and then Hip Hop sensations the “Groundbreakers” fired everyone up for Sarah K. The 2010 Miss BC Pageant was able to raise over $32,000 for the “Cops for Cancer” charity. In mid-July Sarah K performed backing vocals for Jamaican born Reggae artist “Daddy Roy and The Messenger Band” at The Surrey Fusion Festival in front of a crowd 6000 strong. Also last summer, while working in the studio, Sarah K has sang the Canadian and American National Anthems at a Vancouver Canadians baseball game and a Vancouver Whitecaps soccer game. The year ended with two big performances with Juno Award winning reggae artist Mikey Dangerous and R&B sensation, Mario.

Sarah K feels strongly that it is through music and the arts that we have the potential to bring people together. Fulfilling her dream and satisfying her passion for music is what continues to motivate Sarah K today. She is always looking for new opportunities to better her craft, to aspire and to continue to find solace in music.
