Martina grew up in Saint-Ignace, New Brunswick, Canada. Her father has French roots. She speaks fluent French and English. At age 18, she moved to Ottawa, Ontario to study at Carleton University. During her time there, she saw an ad for an intern position at a local label, CP Records. After a year of hard work, Martina went from delivering CDs to radio stations and office administration work to singing backup in the studio for other recording artists on the label.
